CLS Self-Clinching Nut – Stainless & Steel Thin Sheet Threaded Inserts | Helefastener

Helefastener CLS self-clinching nuts create strong, permanent, reusable female threads in thin sheet metal where tapping is not practical. The nut is pressed into a round punched or drilled hole; the knurled or hex body displaces sheet material into an undercut groove and locks flush without welding, riveting or secondary finishing. CLS series nuts are made for sheets up to HRB 50 (Rockwell B) / HB 82 (Brinell) hardness – typically mild steel and aluminium panels – and are part of the same installation logic as PEM CLS equivalents, so existing tooling and hole preparation carry over.

How to specify

To size a CLS nut correctly you need three inputs: the thread you must carry, the panel thickness, and the sheet hardness. Sheet softer than the hardness limit clinches reliably; harder sheet risks compromising the clinch. Hole size tolerance matters as much as thread size – an oversize hole is the most common cause of a nut that turns under torque after installation.
